There's not much worse than finding that you have been a victim of crime. On a personal level, I have experienced this situation, so I know the distress and anxiety that it can cause.

With the shock, you may not be thinking straight. So what do you do?

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS:

  1. Contact the Police, avoid the temptation to touch anything until you have spoken with them. There may be vital evidence that can be recovered to identify the perpetrators.

  2. If you think that there is someone in your property, tell the Police. Avoid the temptation to confront them yourself. There may be several of them.

  3. If you happen to see them, do not block their exit. They may cause you harm in their eagerness to escape.

  4. Your safety is paramount, if you are alone. Go to a neighbour for assistance and for your safety.
